New demo 1.2 and status update
Pit of Despair » Devlog
Happy New Year, everyone! The project is progressing well, so it’s time for a new demo. We’ve taken into account your main concerns and have tried to address all of them. The new demo comes with numerous changes, and here are the most significant ones:
- Many players expressed concerns about the game being too challenging. To address this, we’ve introduced a new mechanic: when the player is hit, it now loses half a heart instead of a full one. Additionally, checkpoints turn red, providing the player with the opportunity to recover the lost half if they can reach a certain number of checkpoints while they are red.
- We’ve worked on improving the intro to make the game play clearer. However, we are open to further enhancements.
- Visual feedback has been added in various places, such as relics, checkpoints, and power-ups.
- A relic has changed its behavior to align with the new ‘half-heart’ mechanic.
- New touchscreen controls have been implemented.
- Numerous bugs have been fixed throughout the game.
On the other hand, we’ve dedicated significant effort to completing the game and have made substantial progress in the remaining levels. We’ve introduced new mechanics and enemies, and we’re optimistic about completing the game very soon, in numbers, there have been 150 new commits since last demo.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to your feedback on the latest demo!
